The new face of homelessness. 

What do you imagine when you think of a homeless person? Certainly not those in this image. Yet this is the face of the homeless today. Many people think homelessness happens to lazy people. In reality that is not the case. Sometimes life just throw curve balls and throw people on an unexpected path. Simple little collage of mother and son gave great joy. I had the chance to meet Tiffanie and her son Lebron this past winter. Tiffany didn't have any photos of her and her son and asked if I would share them for a keep sake. I realized how lucky I was to be a part of this moment. She had just returned from work, still wearing her work uniform. She held her precious baby greeting him and kissing him all over. You could tell this little bundle of love was her inspiration to carry on. 

Tiffanie, is a working mom who found herself on a very scary path. Life spiraled out of control after her daughter was murdered. With the support of shelter of Flint she and her young son Lebron have a chance to start over. When a certain level of suffering happens and there is not a support system from friends and family members, issues like poverty and homelessness can happen. This is real, this is the REAL FACE of Homelessness in America today.
So maybe pause and rethink your perspective of homelessness and poverty. You are more blessed than you realize.

Issues like homelessness and hunger not only happen at Christmas time, for some this is a struggle every day to get basic needs.
